Privacy policy
Last updated 7 September 2026
The short version. QR Socials has no account, no server of its own and no analytics. Your saved codes, folders and logo images stay in the app's private storage on your phone. Two things do leave your device, and both are described in section 4: the app asks Google for a website's icon, and it fetches a link you paste in order to read its title.
1. Who is responsible
QR Socials is made and operated by an individual developer in Germany. Contact for any privacy question, including a request under section 8: Mr-Brogrammer@outlook.com. Questions are answered within 30 days. The full name and postal address of the controller are in the Impressum; the terms of use cover what you may share through a folder code.
2. What the app does
QR Socials turns links — social profiles, phone numbers for WhatsApp, or any web address — into QR codes you can keep, reorder into folders and show to someone. It is free, has no advertising, and needs no account or payment of any kind. A folder can also be packed into a single QR code that opens a page on this website; section 6 explains how that page works.
3. What is stored, and where
What is never collected
- No account, no email address, no password, no user profile.
- No payment information — nothing in the app costs money.
- No advertising, no advertising identifier, no ad networks.
- No analytics, no usage statistics, no crash reporting, no third-party SDKs of any kind.
- No location data, no contacts, no address book, no calendar.
- No cloud account, no sync, and no server anywhere that holds your codes.
What stays on your phone
Everything you create lives in the app's own private storage, which other apps cannot read:
- Your codes — the title, the link or username, which folders it belongs to, and its position in the grid. A WhatsApp code contains the phone number you entered.
- Your settings — the light/dark choice and whether the grid shows logos only.
- Logo images — when you give a code its own logo, the picture you choose is copied into the app's private folder. The original in your gallery is untouched.
Android Auto Backup is switched off for this app. That means none of the above is copied to your Google Drive, and it also means a factory reset or a new phone starts empty — there is nothing to restore from.
4. The two requests that leave your device
These are the only times the app contacts a server that is not one you asked it to open. Neither one is sent to the developer, who operates no server that could receive them.
a. Website icons, from Google
When you save a plain web link (not one of the built-in social platforms), the app asks
Google's public favicon service for that site's icon. The request contains the
hostname of your link — for example example.com, not the full
address — along with your device's IP address, which is unavoidable in any web request.
Google's handling of it is governed by the
Google Privacy Policy.
Links to Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Telegram
use built-in artwork and trigger no such request.
b. Reading a page title
While you are typing or pasting a web address into the editor, the app fetches that address directly so it can read the page's title and offer it as a default name. This request goes to the website you are entering, and it contains the full address you typed plus your device's IP address. That site's own privacy policy governs what it does with the request. It happens only in the editor, only for plain web links, and only while you are entering one — the app never re-fetches your saved links in the background.
5. Permissions
| Permission | Why, and when it is asked for |
|---|---|
| Photos | Only when you tap Gallery to give a code a logo. The picture you pick is copied into the app; nothing else in your gallery is read. |
| Camera | Only when you tap Camera to photograph a logo. Pictures are saved into the app and never uploaded. |
| Internet | For the two requests in section 4, and to open a link when you tap it. |
| Vibrate | The short buzz when you pick a code up to reorder it. |
The app does not request microphone access, location, or permission to draw over other apps.
6. The shared folder page on this website
A folder can be turned into one QR code that opens a page on
qr-socials.mrbrogrammer.tech. The titles and links travel in the part of the web
address after the #, which browsers never send to the server.
The page is a static file: it has no database, no backend and no request logging, so this site
does not and cannot record what anyone shared or opened. The page remembers a light/dark choice
in your browser's local storage, on your device only. It uses no cookies and no analytics.
The page shows site icons the same way the app does, so the Google request described in section 4a also applies to whoever opens a shared folder.
Anyone holding the QR code or the link can open it. A link that has already been shared cannot be recalled — delete the folder in the app and generate a new code if you need the old one to stop working for people who have not saved it.
7. Retention and deletion
- Your codes and logos stay until you delete them or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes all of it.
- Deleting a code removes its saved logo image as well; unused logo files are swept up automatically when the app starts.
- The developer holds nothing to retain or delete, because nothing is ever sent to them.
- QR images and links you have already shared with someone else are outside the app's reach and cannot be withdrawn.
8. Your rights under the GDPR
As the app collects no personal data and the developer operates no server that receives any, there is normally no stored personal data on which to act. You nonetheless have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection under Articles 15–22 GDPR. Write to Mr-Brogrammer@outlook.com to exercise any of them; you will get an answer within 30 days.
You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in the EU member state where you live or work. Personal information is never sold or shared for advertising, and no automated decision-making or profiling takes place.
9. Children
QR Socials is not directed at children under 13, and no data is knowingly collected from them. Since the app collects nothing at all, there is no children's data to hold. If you believe a child needs something removed, get in touch and it will be dealt with.
10. Security
App data is kept in Android's private per-app storage, which the operating system withholds from other apps. This site is served over HTTPS. There are no accounts, so there are no passwords or credentials that could be leaked, and no server-side store of yours that could be breached. Should a breach ever affect users, it will be reported here and to the competent authority as the GDPR requires.
11. Changes
Material changes are published on this page with a new date at the top. Anything that changes what leaves your device will be called out plainly rather than buried.
12. Contact
Privacy questions, requests and complaints: Mr-Brogrammer@outlook.com. Replies within 30 days.
